Fiberotomy or "fiber release" is for patients at the end of their orthodontic treatment. Your orthodontist will ask Dr Huber to perform this procedure on a few or multiple teeth just before your braces are to come off. This minor surgery will detach the tiny fibers from around your teeth that are likely to make them move back to the position they were in before you had braces. As your gums heal, the fibers re-attach to your teeth in their new positions.
Tooth Exposure is for patients who have an adult tooth that has not ever grown into its normal position from under the gum line to replace a baby tooth. Dr Huber will locate the tooth and expose its crown. He will then bond a gold orthodontic "button" with a small chain attached to the tooth so your orthodontist may pull the tooth into its correct position while your braces are still on.
Frenectomy is a surgery to remove the fibrous tissue (frenum) from between two adjacent teeth that keeps them from closing together (diastema). In some cases, the frenum attachment is so strong between the lip and the gums that it creates recession in the teeth. A surgery by the same name is sometimes performed to release a "tied tongue" that doesn't have a normal range of motion.
Dr Huber has received specialized training in Wilkodontics™. Some patients seeking a shorter orthodontic treatment time have this surgical procedure performed by Dr Huber after their initial orthodontic brackets are placed. Wilkodontics creates a softening of the bone tissue between the teeth to be moved by your specially trained orthodontist.
